1st Year Students- Skills, Techniques and Strategies for
Creating Dynamic Presentations
Learn the secrets professional presenters use and receive checklists of
planning steps and techniques that ensure your audience understands your
message, remembers it and acts on it. This presentation shows you ideas,
strategies and techniques to help you connect with your audience. If you
connect with your audience, they remember.

2nd Year Students- Creating World-Class Teams
The session will explore how teams fucntion with a focus on conflict resolution and effective communication skills to the importance of mission and the need for diversity.

1st Year Students- Transformational Leadership
John’s experience, passion and dedication to leadership development
will be poured into this three hour presentation that is sure to flood
your mind with ideas, insights and inspiration. From the difference between
leadership and management, to motivation in the workplace; from evaluation
to termination; from vision to values, John has prepared a fast-paced and
targeted program to force you to decide to shape up or ship out.

2nd Year Students - Executive Decision Making
In the parks and recreation field, a variety of issues come into play
as decisions impact future work, personnel performance, program and facility
outcomes, the natural environment and most importantly the future of the
community. This session will focus on the strategic process a leader must use
to evaluate potential action and create successful resolutions.

1st Year Students- Risky Business: How to Manage It
Risky Business isn’t just legal jargon; it is full of real
cases that have affected parks and recreation professionals. Learn how
to manage risk in your facilities, parks and programs. Discussion focuses
on preventing accidents and property loss from occurring and how to counteract
excessive legal claims.

2nd Year Students- Responding to Conflict
Conflict, in one form or another, exists in all work environments. In
this session you will be exposed to techniques that will increase your
effectiveness in responding to conflict while strengthening your work relationships. At
the end of this workshop you will be able to describe where conflict comes
from; use a road-map to effectively resolve conflict; and demonstrate conflict
resolution skills through practice.

1st and 2nd Year Students-Hot Topic Round Table Discussions
You asked for it and you got it! First and Second year participants
will join forces during this interactive session to discuss what's hot and
what's not. Tell us what is on your mind? Current and future
trends, trail development, graffiti in parks, health and wellness, challenging
economy? The sky's the limit. EDP attendees will have the opportunity
to suggest, in advance, topics that are pressing in our industry. Becky
Barrick and Brandon Bennett will moderate this session with discussion leaders
that include board members and local professionals in the field of parks
and recreation.

1st Year Students- What Does Diversity Mean to You and Your Community?
Diversity covers a vast range of topics. This session will cover
service delivery to staff and customers. Lively discussion will center
on topics such as generations, culture, disabilities, gender and many
more. An action plan will be created by each participant to assist you
and your department with Diversity in your own community. You will leave
this session with at better appreciation and clearer picture of Diversity.

2nd Year Students- Selection and Interviewing: "The Last Person
Standing Wins!"
Participants will be introduced to competency based interviewing
techniques and will walk away with an interviewing style that helps select
candidates based on their potential to succeed. The session will include a
'mock' assessment center process in which attendees will participate.
